How did you meet? Who made the first move?
A tale of circumstance. Right place, right time, and around the right people. Jack worked with Dani (Julie's friend) who "planted the seed" about Julie being a potential match for him. Dani received the OK from Julie to give Jack her number and that’s how it all began...
Jack: After reviewing Julie's instagram, I was totally intimidated because Julie looked cool AF. Well traveled, elite dancer, spontaneous, fun and very attractive. There was definitely some added pressure in my head about nailing a first date with Julie given that she is Dani's close friend and the fact that she is cooler than me haha.
I texted Julie and set up a first date. I had recently gone on a string of boring/bad dates and was looking forward to Julie’s date. On the day of, it was radio silent from Julie about coordinating a meetup spot, so I called her and asked "are we doing this or what?!" -- we met at Hudson Hill for cocktails and pretty instantly realized we both felt comfortable spending time together. The rest is history.
What first attracted you to each other?
Jack: Her big brown eyes, the tone of her voice and her aura of calmness. Julie made me feel at ease almost instantly.
Julie: His genuineness and persistence. It was loud and clear. I could tell that he wouldn't be just another guy that would beat around the bush. Straight forward and to the punch, he got me locked in.
What is your favorite memory with each other?
Jack: I think that our first time traveling together out of the country is one of my favorite memories. A memory from the trip that I really enjoyed was inventing a beach game using only an empty coconut to entertain ourselves.
Traveling together for an extended amount of time validated for me that I could very well spend the rest of my life with Julie. I walked away from that trip deeper in love and totally "gaga" over her.
Julie: I'd also have to say our first trip to Mexico! Jack was very much the "go with the flow" guy, which is exactly how I like to be on trips. At the time, we have been dating for only a few months so it was a little iffy to already take a trip together. After spending every second of the day for a full week, without any issues or disagreements, I thought it was too good to be true. We shared so many laughs, great conversations and spontaneous adventures. It was one of the best.
What is your favorite way of spending time together?
Jack: I love that we can oscillate between doing absolutely nothing but then also go engage in sports, travel, gym and experiences together. I can't just pick a favorite but I love traveling with Julie -- we have a similar travel style and just kind of go with the flow when we visit places. Going somewhere new with Julie is always exciting yet relaxing at the same time. Everyone loves to travel though, so I think other personal favorites are spending a day in Denver without a plan, morning coffee, walking Billie, hitting the gym, opening up a bottle of wine, tossing on a flick and having a cuddle puddle on the couch with Julie, Billie & Bernie.
Julie: Exactly what Jack said. I couldn’t agree more. From doing nothing to everything, I love it all.
How did you get engaged?
Jack planned the perfect little surprise and proposed where we had our very first date.
Why did you decide on a destination wedding?
We obviously love vacationing on the beach and the care-free energy it exudes, so why not provide the opportunity for our family and friends to join? We hope that our wedding gives our guests a reason to take some time off and enjoy it as a vacation for themselves as well!
